Hey Makeup Lovies! ❤
Today I bring you a review of some of the MakeupGeek Duo Chrome Eyeshadows! I love MakeupGeek eyeshadows so when I saw they were going to launch duo chromes I knew I had to pick up a few. Lately I have been purchasing more dark shades so I skipped out on all of the lighter shades for the exception of one 😛
Before we begin, I want to give you my thoughts on these shadows: At first glance they glisten beautifully. Some didn’t look as appealing as I thought they would in the pan. It wasn’t until I swatched them that I nearly lost it! Swatched they are ahhhmaaazinnng! ❤ They reflect sooo many colors it’s insane! Like all MakeupGeek products they blend effortlessly. They are soft to the touch and feel so buttery smooth. They shine and glisten like foiled shadows except they feel lighter on the lids and blend much better. I’ve been using these non stop and they last for hours. They remain intact on the lid still shinny and all. I honestly really love these shadows. I’m highly impressed at the way they perform! I’m actually thinking of purchasing the rest of the shades but that means I have to purchase another Z Palette and knowing me I’d want the biggest size and they are pricey!:( Anywho, price point they are $6.00 same as their regular shadows. They contain 1.8 g / 0.0645 oz same as your average eyeshadow. You can purchase them here http://www.makeupgeek.com/store/eye-products/eyeshadows/makeup-geek-duochrome-eyeshadows.html
Here are the lovely shades I chose. It was a bit difficult to actually take a great picture with great lighting. Like I said before, they look a bit dull and ordinary in the pans but just wait till you actually see them swatched!
**Don’t mind the black background, my usual white background wasn’t letting me capture the actual colors of these shadows. So I used some packaging of a product I had laying around**
Karma is described as “a golden base with yellow-green reflects.” As you can see by the swatches you definitely have a variety of shades in this single pan. Obviously the shadow itself is golden based, but you can definitely see orange and yellow. I couldn’t capture the green of this shade but when I applied this to the eyes I saw hints of green! This shade changes depending on the color of your crease. One of my faves! It really does make your eyes pop!
Ritzy is described as “a warm red-brown base with green and gold reflects.” This one has to be by far my favorite one out of all the ones I purchased! It just looks so beautiful swatched and on the eyes. It’s such a magical shade, you see red, brown, green, and gold just like the description states. On the pan it just looks like a regular mauve brown but swatched it’s a whole different story! If you decide on purchasing any shadows from this collection I suggest you add this one to your cart 😉 You won’t regret it!
Havoc is described as “a warm red-brown base with teal reflects.” Very similar to Ritzy however it reflects teal! Now I don’t own M.A.C’s Blue Brown Pigment but I’ve seen pictures and this eyeshadow kind of reminds me of it?! Like I said it’s similar to Ritzy however Ritzy is more subtle than Havoc because of the teal. This shadow reflects teal, orange, gold, red, and even brown! Crazy right!
Typhoon is described as “a deep teal base with green and gold reflects.” Doesn’t this eyeshadow remind you of mermaids!? Just like the description sates you can see green, teal, and gold. I’m sure if you add a black base it will deepen and intensify the shade.
Secret Garden is described as “a deep espresso base with bright teal reflects.” Wait, I think this one looks more like the M.A.C. Blue Brown Pigment!? Lol, what do you think!? Anyways, I love how you can see the intensity of the bright teal yet the darkness of that deep espresso shade. You can also see hints of green!
Steampunk is described as “a black base with rich copper reflects.” At first I didn’t know what to think of this shade. It seems like a shiny metallic brown. But in the right lighting you’ll see it does have that nice hint of copper and dark gold. Because it’s black based it’s much more darker which I don’t mind since I initially wanted this shade for smoking out the lower lash line.
And for the final swatches!
As you can see the flash REALLY does intensify the shades and as a matter of fact actually changes the shade completely. Just by looking at it Steampunk looks like it has silver reflects. Karma even looks like a rusty old gold. Like I previously mentioned I really recommend you check these eyeshadows out! They are not only crazy affordable but really really pigmented and soft!
Hopefully you lovies enjoyed this review and found it helpful! 🙂 Did you already purchase any of these shades!? If so which ones!? Are you thinking of placing an order!? 😉 Which shades were your fave!? Least fave!?
Hope everyone had a lovely weekend!
